The UKRDA is now welcoming the first round of applications from independent officials and non-UKRDA league officials who want to apply to be individual members of the organisation. We are also allowing UKRDA member league officials to apply to become UKRDA registered officials.

We announced the completion of our officials membership policy and the appointment of the Officials Admin Panel, which will process and decide on applications from officials, at the tail-end of last year.

The panel is now ready to welcome the first round of applications.

Independent/non-UKRDA league officials can apply using the form here.

UKRDA league officials can apply using the form here.

All successful applicants will have to agree to follow the officials code of conduct, and sign confidentiality agreements and declarations, which can be viewed here.

The closing date for applications is Saturday, February 21. A full timeline for independent officials applications can be viewed here.

  1. This is taken directly from the policy itself, but there is extra information in the policy so please read through that document in full rather than take this reply as the whole answer! 🙂

To be acknowledged as an Official in the LAM category:

A reference must be supplied (preferably by an email to oap@ukrda.org.uk) stipulating that the individual is a full member of their UKRDA league in the capacity of an official.  The reference must be received from the league Director, Head of Membership, UKRDA rep or someone with similar standing within the league who is empowered to speak on behalf of the league on this issue. The references should detail the league membership criteria applied by the league in allowing the applicant to join as a league member, or the membership details and requirements contained in the league’s Officials Code of Conduct/Constitution.

    – To be acknowledged as an Official in the IOM category:

UKRDA must receive a signed UKRDA Officials Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Declaration, the annual UKRDA Independent Official subscription payment of £5 and at least two written references (preferably emailed to oap@ukrda.org.uk). The references may be written by an Official recognised by UKRDA, a UKRDA Member League Head Referee/Head NSO (as appropriate) or a senior skating member of a UKRDA Member League, such as a team captain/board member or someone with similar standing within the league who is empowered to speak on behalf of the league on this issue. However, references must be received from at least two different leagues or Independent Officials recognised by UKRDA (e.g. you cannot have one reference from the league Director and another from the same league’s Head NSO). All applications will be judged on their own merit. The references should contain details of the relationship the league offering reference has with the applicant and the experience of the applicant.

As long as the content of the reference(s) contains the information above, the exact format is not particularly important. Use whatever works for you 🙂
